First post.
Obviously, "Hey, Does It Work?" is a DIY-style blog that I'm going to wind up using to either prove or disprove that something works, or doesn't work.
Why? Because I'm a technical writer, and my job is to break shit on a daily basis, figure out how to put it back together, and then tell other people either not to do what I just did, or how to make the bloody thing do what it's "supposed" to do. I load-test. I throw as much data at a program as possible to see where it blows up. Then I note it and roll the recommended load back to make sure people know not to do what I just did.
And since an argument about how something works has been in process for quite some time, I finally figured, "Okay, what the hell. I'll test the bloody thing and see if it does work."
It can be anything from whether or not someone who's ranting and raving about something that simply doesn't work online to me showing in step-by-step instructions to The Girl why it's not a good idea to STAB THE GPS UNIT THAT WON'T WORK IN THE FACE DAMMIT.
(Yes, sometimes she has technology issues. But I love The Girl.)
Don't expect formality, or anything other than anecdotal evidence here. This is "Hey, Does It Work?", not "Hey, this is how it's supposed to work." Half of this stuff is trial and error and stopping to ask "What the hell just happened?"
Watch this space.
